NSW town with strong ties to the Harbour Bridge celebrates icon’s 90th birthday in style

A small town on the south coast of New South Wales is celebrating the Sydney Harbour Bridge’s 90th birthday in style.

The granite blocks that form the pylons of the Harbour Bridge were sourced from the Moruya Quarry.

The town of Moruya will celebrate the milestone with a colourful street parade complete with floats, marching bands and fireworks.

Local Dales Whyte told Deborah Knight the town has gone through a lot over the last couple of years, with the pandemic and bushfires.

“There’s a lot of very sad people down here and this is the event to cheer them up.”
