The NSW Premier has confirmed residents will unlock more freedoms as soon as 70 per cent of the eligible population is double vaccinated.

The state was promised one extra freedom once it hit the six million jab target before the end of August, but once it was achieved the reward was announced to come into effect from September 13.

“When we reach the target can we have the reward ready to go instead of waiting for Australia Day to open the Christmas present?” Ben Fordham said.

Gladys Berejiklian responded that will “absolutely” be the case when the state hits the 70 per cent target.

“Hope is just around the corner,” she told Ben.

“We’ll put the road map out so that people know exactly what life means at 70 per cent double dose.

“I don’t want people who have chosen not to get vaccinated to whinge that they can’t do certain things.”
