Premier explains why he’s refusing to reimpose restrictions amid rising COVID cases
NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet is holding the line amid pressure to reimpose restrictions to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Daily case numbers have remained steady at around 2,500 with ICU presentations at 33.
“Of those 33 in ICU, 26 are unvaccinated … those statistics don’t lie,” Mr Perrottet said.
He told Joe Hildebrand, while he’s open to making changes if necessary, the state is in “a very strong position”, because of its vaccination rate.
“We’ve been saying for close to two years we’ve got to learn to live alongside the virus; well, now is the time for our state to stand strong.
“My job is to treat the people of NSW like adults.
“I think we need to move from fear to hope. This is a moment for our state to lead the nation out of this pandemic.”
