NSW Labor calls for delay of plastic bag ban

NSW Labor is calling for a delay to the ban on single-use plastic bags.

The Opposition is asking for a grace period for businesses who have purchased the bags before June 1.

Lightweight single-use bags will be banned from Wednesday. More details HERE

A number of business owners told Ben Fordham not enough was done to raise awareness and give them time to prepare.

“It truly blindsided me,” grocer Paul said.

Environment Minister James Griffin told Ben they won’t hand out fines “for a couple of weeks”.
