NSW government vows to help Mascot Towers residents

Article image for NSW government vows to help Mascot Towers residents

The NSW government is promising to help the residents of the recently evacuated Mascot Towers building in Sydney’s inner suburbs.

Engineers evacuated the building on Friday night after they became concerned about cracks in the walls of the 10-year-old apartment complex.

Apartment owners will reportedly have to foot the bill for repairs as the building is too old to come under warranty protection.

Minister for Better Regulation Kevin Anderson tells Ben Fordham the government is willing to help the residents in any way they can.

“What we can do though Ben is we can offer any assistance possible, for example, if they’re struggling with accommodation we want them to contact Fair Trading.

“We stand ready to do what we can when they come up against that brick wall.”
