NSW government set to hit the brakes on megaprojects

Ben Fordham Comments

Some major projects in New South Wales are set to be shelved due to surging construction costs and labour shortages.

Some high-profile projects could be placed on the back-burner such as the Beaches Link, Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2, and the Katoomba-Lithgow tunnel.

Infrastructure NSW is recommending the government moves smaller projects ahead.

Ben isn’t a fan of the “political spin” on these decisions.

“You can blame coronavirus all you like, but many of these projects were promised well before the pandemic began,” Ben said.

“The problem with promises is, when you fail to keep them, future ones are taken with a grain of salt.”
