NRL great Arthur Beetson will have a grandstand named after him despite previous snub
Ray Hadley has reported that the NSW Government will overrule the SCG Trust and name a grandstand after Arthur Beetson alongside five other names.
Arthur Beetson was originally snubbed from getting a stand due to ‘essentially being a Queenslander’.
The decision was slammed by fans, politicians and media commentators.
Minister for Western Sydney Stuart Ayres has been working behind the scenes for the snub to be overturned.
“He has a long association with that ground,” Ray said.
“There’s a whole range of reasons that we need to honour Arthur Beetson.”
