The Cancer Council is encouraging parents to ditch the ham sandwich in their child’s lunchbox.

The edicts were slipped into public school newsletters sent out this term.

NSW Transport Minister David Elliott told Ben Fordham the move is a step too far.

“It is a daily battle with people who just want to get into our lives.

“I’m a big fan of the Cancer Council … but you’re not doing yourselves any favour when you’re trying to tell families exactly what they can and cannot eat.”
