The hot, brutal Australian summer is just around the corner, and with that comes extreme heat and wet. Aussies have been told they may need to stock up on candles and all sorts of workarounds for the impending energy crisis.

Expert in the field and former Snowy Hydro CEO Paul Broad has told Chris O’Keefe on Drive that when it’s “really, really hot”, the lights will likely be going out, similar to as seen in other first-world countries in recent years.

“When is a bad day when it’s a hot day or there’s no renewables about, and the baseloads struggle, then it’s relatively high risk you can get serious blackouts”, Broad told 2GB Drive.
