Northern Beaches breakthrough: Jim Wilson’s win for dudded families
2GB Drive’s campaign for Northern Beaches families being dudded by compulsory land acquisition has had a breakthrough.
Local families were on the verge of being kicked out of their homes due to the push to build the Beaches Link.
Jim has been fighting for affected families for months.
Roads Minister Natalie Ward confirmed that after discussions in government, residents whose properties are yet to be acquired will be able to remain at their homes until halfway through 2024.
If Labor wins the state election, they’re going to scrap the Beaches Link, therefore the residents can stay in their homes as long as they like.
Balgowlah Resident Georgina Ewing told Jim Wilson she’s “over the moon”.
“It’s the best thing that we could possibly hope for and I applaud the government for taking our human stories into account.”

Dudley Street resident Shirley Butcher called in to thank Jim for his efforts.
“I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done, we would have never got this outcome without you,” she said.

Roads Minister Natalie Ward’s full statement
Hi Jim,
Just wanted to follow up on our conversation a couple of weeks ago regarding Beaches Link.
Following discussions within government, it has been agreed that residents whose properties are yet to be acquired will be able to remain in place until at least Q2 2024. Those who want certainty now will still be able to have their properties acquired.
Transport are reaching out to the impacted residents this afternoon to provide them this latest update. I know the compulsory acquisition process is very stressful for residents and I am glad we can now provide this update.
