Ben Fordham says he has “no regrets” for organising a meeting prior to a murder charge being laid against accused wife-killer, Chris Dawson.

The Sydney Morning Herald has reported on a lunch in mid-2018 involving Fordham, investigative journalist Hedley Thomas and then-NSW Commissioner Mick Fuller.

According to the Herald:

“Thomas had been trying to engage NSW Police in his crime podcast, The Teacher’s Pet, which he told listeners had uncovered new evidence suggesting Sydney mother Lynette Dawson had been killed by her husband Chris.

“He wanted to help police and for police to help him, but the NSW Supreme Court heard they stonewalled him.

“Due to Fordham’s intervention, Thomas now had lunch, not only with Fuller but 3 more officers who were key to the investigation.”

Ben Fordham said on Breakfast:

“I make no apologies for organising that meeting.

“In the early episodes of The Teacher’s Pet, Hedley Thomas was making the point that police weren’t interested in hearing from him.

“That didn’t make sense to me.

“Hedley had new evidence coming in and I believed NSW Police should assess it for themselves.

“As history shows, Chris Dawson is now charged with murder.

“He’s innocent until proven guilty.

“I make no apologies for organising that meeting and if I had my time over, I’d do it again.”
