It’s been a nightmare on the M4 motorway today.

Early this morning, an overweight truck caused traffic chaos after clipping a bridge at the Bennet Road overpass at Colyton.

Two of three citybound lanes were closed and motorists faced lengthy delays, being diverted onto the Great Western Highway, via the Northern Road exit.

The headaches have continued on the motorway this afternoon, with westbound lanes affected by a truck on fire just before the Burnett Street off-ramp.

A listener has sent in footage of the incident unfolding

Listener Talia has called in to tell Chris Smith the truck driver is out of the vehicle on the side of the road.

She says the truck is still alight and drivers are slowing down.
