The Chair of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide says recommendations cannot be ignored.

Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide handed down its interim report calling for an end to the backlog of compensation claims and for a simplification of the claims system.

Almost 42,000 veterans were awaiting for their claims to be processed at the end of May.

Chair Nick Kaldas told Ben Fordham inquiries in the past have been ignored.

“The reality is this nation has a debt of gratitude to those who have worn the uniform.”
