Any military conflict involving major powers – such as the US and China – could start in space and involve the destruction of satellites.

This is just one scenario reluctantly sketched out by US Lieutenant General John Shaw, the Deputy Commander of US Space Command.

Dr Malcolm Davis is a Senior Analyst in Defence Strategy and Capability at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute.

He joined Joe Hildebrand to share his thoughts on the rising tensions between the two military powers.
