A Newcastle Knights doctor will travel to the Ukrainian border to deliver medical and humanitarian supplies to hospitals in need.

Dr Andriy Boyko has raised more than $100,000 to buy essentials, in addition to an initial shipment of $20,000 worth of aid sent to Ukraine.

A GoFundMe has been set up to help raise the necessary funds.

The Newcastle Knights and the Newcastle Jets are auctioning off a signed jersey to raise money for the trip.

Dr Boyko told Ben Fordham he will deliver food and medication requested by hospitals.

“My childhood is in Ukraine and it’s a wonderful country.”
