A new-look $50 note is entering general circulation.

Like the new $5 and $10 notes introduced in recent years, the $50 version includes a tactile feature to help the vision-impaired.

Updated security features also aim to prevent them from being copied, and includes a top-to-bottom clear window.

Reserve Bank of Australia Business Services Assistant Governor Lindsay Boulton tells Ross Greenwood while counterfeiting isn’t a problem in Australia, it’s important to keep security features upgraded.

“We do need to upgradeĀ the security features of our bank notes from time to time to make sure the public can continue to use them with confidence.”

Mr Boulton also tells Ross there are also a number of new features which aren’t as obvious.
