Nationals to hold party meeting following resignations of three senior MPs
Nationals leader David Littleproud has confirmed the party will hold a meeting tonight after three Nationals MPs resigned from the frontbench after crossing the floor to vote against Labor’s hate speech bill.
One Nation MP and former Nationals MP Barnaby Joyce has told Clinton Maynard he would support the MPs if they decided to join One Nation amid speculation of another Coalition split.
“they’ve been in an invidious position because of crazy policy. This hate speech was not hate speech … it was censorship laws,” he said.
Opposition leader Sussan Ley has accepted the resignations from the three MPs, Bridget McKenzie, Susan McDonald and Ross Cadell.
