Reducing energy prices to dominate national cabinet meeting
All eyes are on New South Wales and Queensland at today’s national cabinet meeting to be chaired virtually by the Prime Minister.
Both are being asked to use state laws to cap the price of coal, in the hope of bringing down the cost of electricity.
Minister for Industry and Science Ed Husic told Deborah Knight the government are focused on getting energy prices down.
“We have been working with the states and territories, and once the national cabinet meets I’m confident we will get an outcome.”
Shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor told Deborah Knight Labor promised a $275 deduction in energy prices for households, compared to before the election.
“We have seen the government run around in circles trying to fix this issue.”
