‘Moving in the right direction’: Changes to childcare subsidy brought forward

Michael McLaren

A childcare subsidy is set to help thousands of families save on out of pocket costs from today.

The reprieve has been brought forward, with the subsidy lifted by 30 per cent for parents with multiple children in care.

Minister for Women’s Economic Security Jane Hume told Deborah Knight the move will boost the economy.

“Women can … fully participate in the workforce.

“That second or subsequent child will now receive 95 per cent of their child care subsidies by the government.

“It will be a very welcome relief.”
