Miracle baby Archie excited to go on holiday in his new van
You may remember the incredible story of miracle baby Archie and 95-year-old Marjorie, a very generous listener of Ben Fordham Live.
Two-year-old Archie was born with no eyes and has a whole list of other challenges including a rare form of epilepsy.
Earlier this year, Archie’s family decided to raise money to buy an $80,000 specialist van, which would allow them to take Archie with them everywhere.
Harbord Bowling Club organised a barefoot bowls tournament and managed to raise half the amount needed for the van.
Then, long-time listener of Ben Fordham Live 95-year-old Marjorie stepped up and donated the huge sum of $40,000 to make up the rest of the money needed.
Off the back of Harbord Bowling Club’s successful fundraiser, they are now a finalist in the Clubs and Community Awards.
Archie’s mother Fiona Gould tells Ben Fordham she’s blown away by the support her family has received.
“It’s been an incredible journey of meeting new friends, getting to know our local community, everyone coming together, it’s just amazing.
“It kind of fills your bucket again, you know, in those hard times?”
Fiona says her family is really excited to go on holiday with Archie, which is now possible because of the van.
“We’re going to hit the road on adventures, and have some time with him and make memories. We’re just so lucky to have that opportunity.”
Fiona says the family will make sure to pick up Marjorie in the new van and spend the day with her.
