The energy minister says power prices will come down as new stations are introduced.

The government has agreed to underwrite new gas plants in South Australia and a 132MW gas generator in the southeast Queensland town of Gatton.

The stations will supplement existing generators by adding to the network at times of peak demand.

There are 10 other short-listed projects under the government’s underwriting program.

Federal Energy Minister Angus Taylor tells Luke Grant it will bring down prices.

“We’re continuing to work on a number of others.

“The key here is to get more supply into the market.”
