Ben Fordham has called out former journalist Mike Carlton after his comments on the new Australian of the Year.

The 2023 Australian Of The Year Tarryn Brumfitt shared her message on body image with Ben yesterday.

Mr Carlton stated, “My Australian of the Year would be a doctor or nurse working nights in intensive care or the ED, dealing with COVID and daily death”.

He added on, “Real compassionate work. For very little money, not someone who makes a buck out of saying it’s ok to be a bit fat.”

“I think Mike needs to take his happy pills instead of trolling a woman who is on a mission to help kids,” Ben said.
