McLaren – What Australia is risking by staying out of the US-Iran conflict
Michael McLaren has issued a warning to the various American allies, including Australia, who have chosen not to get involved in Trump’s bid to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
He’s pointed out the refusal to get involved will not only drag out Australia’s fuel crisis, but will serve as a reminder to the United States when their allies reach out for assistance.
“The sentiment from Canberra seems to be that, well, it’s someone else’s problem. And yet when you go to fill up the car, truck or the tractor …Â you’re going to realise pretty quickly that it’s your problem too,” he said.
He’s also pointed out that Australia, even if asked to help, would likely be unable to due to years of a lack of investment in defence.
