The Narromine Shire Council Mayor has unloaded on the state government after the new proprietors of Trangie’s service station spent months jumping through hoops. 

Residents from the small town have been forced to drive up to 70 kilometres for fuel, with their local servo closed as the lease transferred from Ampol.

While a temporary station isn’t far off now, Mayor Craig Davies is fuming at the state government’s long-winded process.

“It’s just driven me absolutely nuts to have a period of 18 months go by before they could actually get their act together and transfer the lease,” he told Ray Hadley.

“It just highlights how hopeless the Planning Act is for NSW.

Those things that happen in Trangie, or Weilmoringle, or Louth are deemed to be the same as what happens in Double Bay, or Bondi or Blacktown. It’s a completely different world out here.

“And yet, for the new proponents of this site, they’ve had to put in three DAs and three traffic management plans to get this over the line.”
