The Matildas captured the hearts of Australia during the FIFA Women’s World Cup, with record crowds and public interest, and an impeccable 4th place finish. 

NSW Premier Chris Minns has confirmed a large mural will be placed across the façade of Homebush’s Stadium Australia to commemorate the event, but is it truly the best use of money? Two mock-ups have been supplied of what it could look like.

Chris O’Keefe questioned whether this, as well as the $200 million promised by Federal Labor for all women’s sports, actually does anything to further women’s football or is just bandwagoning and populism politics.
