Socceroos Captain Mat Ryan has weighed in on being substituted off in the last minute of today’s World Cup qualifier against Peru.

33-year-old Andrew Redmayne was substituted on in the final minute of extra time as a spot-kick specialist instead of Ryan.

A decision that proved to be pivotal, as the Socceroos won on penalties 5-4.

Mat Ryan told Jim Wilson he had no idea he was about to be replaced, and still, his response was classy.

“It caught me by surprise!” Mat said.

“Whenever it was made, thankfully we still got the job done.”

Jim Wilson was blown away by the Goalkeepers attitude.

“Were collectively proud of your performance,” Jim said.
