‘Massive failure’ – The growing call to tie Centrelink to mandatory rehab
There have been calls by Indigenous groups to tie Centrelink payments for those who have a history of drug use and alcohol abuse to rehabilitation programs.
Shadow Minister for Indigenous Australians Julian Leeser has told Clinton Maynard that this is a massive problem in Australia.
“We have the deaths of three innocent children; there is a massive failure of the child protection authority in Western Australia,” he said.
“Whoever those children may be, their safety, their wellbeing must be paramount; it’s extraordinary that people can get away with failing to look after their children,” he added.
