Mark Taylor on Pat Cummins appointment: ‘Right man for the Australian Captaincy job’
Pat Cummins will replace Tim Paine as Australian Test Captain.
He becomes the 47th captain of the men’s Test team.
Mark Taylor, Former Australian Test Captain, told Jim Wilson he is the right man for the job.
“He is a gentleman who loves the game of cricket,” he said.
“And I like the fact he has talked about the scrutiny of the job as we have seen it is fairly intense.
“I hope people give Pat the time and the space to captain freely and enjoy the role as Australian captain.
“I certainly did but the last couple, obviously Tim and Steve Smith before him had very tough ends to their campaigns, I certainly hope that isn’t the case for Pat.”
“I think yes they have the right man for the Australian Captaincy job but it is a tougher job for a fast bowler.”
