Mark Levy is questioning the intention of a snap national cabinet meeting as the NSW Premier faces public pressure to reintroduce restrictions.

State premiers are expected to receive health advice to mandate masks in indoor settings as NSW records 3,057 cases.

The Chief Medical Officer will join a chorus of numerous health experts backing mandatory masks.

“Could tomorrow’s meeting be nothing more than a smother by the PM to protect the NSW Premier and give him some wiggle room to reimpose basic restrictions?

“If it is, it would be utterly embarrassing for the Liberal Party, Scott Morrison and Dominic Perrottet.

“Mr Perrottet couldn’t possibly be seen to reverse his decision … so is this his way of hiding behind Daddy Warbucks from the Lodge in Canberra?”
