South Sydney Rabbitohs have been more of a laughing stock than a fighting force in the last few weeks, with the club mired in scandals, infighting, and resignations.

The already bad situation took a turn for the worse when the son of club legend Clive Churchill, Rod, likened Latrell Mitchell to a “cancer” in the team among other incendiary comments in a leaked text.

Mark Levy called out Rod’s comments but also stressed there had been a layer of privacy broken and Rod’s comments shouldn’t change how his father is viewed. Shane Flanagan added that players are treated as individuals and differently by coaches, urging people to consider how man management works in elite-level sports.

“For that to be linked to Clive is just wrong and as you said, it’s a private text message that’s got out now, but it shouldn’t have anything to do with him”.
