Mark Latham slams the ‘virtue-signalling’ NRL for latest politically correct stunt

Mark Latham has hit out at “virtue-signalling” Rugby League boss, Peter Beattie, for dragging the sport into the debate about indigenous recognition.

The NRL released a video featuring the ARL Commission Chairman calling for Aboriginal Australians to be given specific recognition in the Australian constitution.

In it Mr Beattie says, “we represent the Rugby League community”.

It’s not the first time the game has become embroiled in politics, after heavily supporting the push for same-sex marriage.

NSW One Nation leader Mark Latham says Mr Beattie has no right to make political statements on behalf of Rugby League fans.

“What’s the got to do with rugby league football?” he asks Alan Jones.

“Did he ever ask the fans, sitting out there in the cold, what they’re opinion might be?

“These virtue signallers, Alan, they’re everywhere!

“You turn around every corner, every footy game, every newspaper, every corporate agenda… they’re there trying to tell us how to live our lives, how to run politics.

“Why don’t they just stick to their knitting!”
