Mark Latham says the infamous Kings Cross has improved since the lockout laws were put in place.

An NSW parliamentary committee report recommended lockout laws be removed everywhere except Kings Cross.

Earlier this month Premier Gladys Berejiklian announced she wants the 1.30am lockouts lifted in the CBD but to remain in place in Kings Cross.

NSW One Nation leader Mark Latham was on the parliamentary committee behind the report.

He tells Karl Stefanovic the committee visited Kings Cross before releasing their recommendations.

“I hadn’t been there for quite some while and I think its massively improved because of the lockout laws.

“I think Kings Cross 10-15 years ago was a dreadful place but today there’s residential development, there are nice terraces.

“The whole place has got the feeling of being half sleazy, half reasonable, which is a big step up on the 100 per cent sleaze that we had a decade ago.”
