The federal government is threatening to intervene amid ongoing industrial action at Port Botany. 

The union is seeking to replicate a deal struck with Hutchison Ports where up to 70 per cent of new hires will be sourced from employees’ families and friends.

Industrial Relations Minister Michaelia Cash told Ben Fordham the government has been keeping a “very close watch”.

“I can assure you the government will take action if needed to protect the Australian economy from serious harm.

“We’ve put the MUA on notice.”
