A man has been killed in a fire at Lake Macquarie, north of Sydney.

At around 2.30 this morning emergency services were called to a home at Morisset.

They arrived finding huge flames tearing through a shed at the back of the property.

Three trucks were needed to extinguish the blaze with crews searching the scene afterwards, discovering a man’s body inside.

It’s unclear what sparked the fire, but investigations are continuing.
