A man is wanted over a train derailment in Wollongong that left four people in hospital.

47-year-old Allan Martin Simpson is known to frequent the areas of Wollongong and Shellharbour.

Earlier this week, a stolen car was left on train tracks before being hit by a four-car train at Kembla Grange, leaving a driver and three passengers with injuries.
