One of the first people on the scene of a fatal crash at Mulgoa has praised the efforts of emergency services and pleaded for drivers to slow down.

Two trucks and a van collided on Mulgoa Road at about 5.40am, claiming the life of the van driver, a man believed to be in his 20s.

The two other drivers were freed from their vehicles and rushed to hospital.

One of them, a man in his 50s, was initially supposed to be airlifted to Westmead Hospital.

Due to severe chest injuries, he had to be rushed to Liverpool Hospital by road ambulance instead.

The other man is being transported to Nepean Hospital for mandatory testing.

Listener Rod witnessed the aftermath of the horror accident, calling in to tell Ray Hadley the scene is difficult to describe.

“I just want to praise our emergency services.

“It’s phenomenal the job that these guys do.”

He’s pleading for drivers to slow down as Christmas approaches.

“I’ve got a young P-plater at home,” Rod says.

“I rung the young fella up, he’s on his way to work this morning… and I just couldn’t speak, mate, I was a mess.”

Mulgoa Road is expected to be closed for hours between Park Road and Littlefields Road, as police investigate the cause of the crash.
