A man has died and another has been seriously injured after being trapped under tonnes of waste at a landfill site in Sydney’s West.

Emergency services were called to the address on Kangaroo Avenue in Eastern Creek after reports a worker was trapped.

One man was transported to the hospital with abdominal injuries but the other did not survive.

SafeWork NSW is investigating the incident.

NSW Ambulance Inspector Michael Magyary tells Ben Fordham they were frantically searching for the second man hidden in the rubble.

“When we arrived… we originally were only aware of one patient.

“As we were attending to the patient we were then told that there was a second patient and that he was missing

“The scene was quite chaotic and tragic.”
