A man has been refused bail, charged with shooting a dog with a spear gun on the Central Coast.

The animal was attacked at a home on Cogra Road at Woy Woy yesterday.

Police say a 45-year-old man forced his way into the property, then hit the dog over the head causing several lacerations.

He is then accused of shooting the pet with a spear gun.

He’s been charged with aggravated cruelty upon an animal along with several other charges and remains in custody waiting to face Gosford Court.

The dog was taken to a vet clinic where she underwent surgery.

Two other people are facing animal cruelty charges after allegedly leaving a puppy in the boot of a hot car at Bondi Junction.
