As Rupert Murdoch steps down from News Corp and Fox, passing the baton to his son Lachlan, officials are having their say on what his legacy may be.

Foreign Minister Penny Wong chose diplomacy, wishing him well in his retirement. However, former Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull did not hold back, critiquing Murdoch’s influence on global events and media.

Turnbull asserted that Murdoch’s media empire, especially Fox News, played a divisive role in U.S. politics, going as far as suggesting Murdoch’s support was pivotal in events like Brexit and Trump’s presidency.
