Ben Fordham says the blame for a lack of rapid antigen tests across the country rests on the Therapeutic Goods Administration.

While Australia moves away from PCR tests in favour of rapid antigen tests, supplies remain scarce across the country.

Ben says the TGA was too slow to approve the tests.

Two Australian companies are still waiting for TGA approval, Ellume and Anteo-Tech.

“There are 22 brands of rapid tests legal to use in Australia. 16 are made in China.

“Here’s an opportunity to support Australian made.”

Ben says “it’s hard to escape the fact that we dropped the ball”.

“The failure to secure enough Rapid Antigen Tests for the summer period as we ‘opened up”, that’s just stupid.

“The so-called experts who were guiding our response were sleepwalking their way into the summer holidays.”
