Long weekend road toll climbs to four
Four people have died on our roads over the long weekend with fears that number could grow as holidaymakers return home tonight.
Two people were killed in separate accidents on Friday.
Then on Sunday morning, a woman and a dog died and five others were injured when her vehicle crossed onto the wrong side of the Pacific Highway near Grafton.
NSW Police Assistant Commissioner Michael Corboy joined Deb Knight on Afternoons and broke the news of another fatality.
“I’m just getting a report that we’ve had another one in the southern part of the state this morning. Only a little while ago.”
The Assistant Commissioner tells Deb people just don’t seem to get the message, with 160 people arrested for drink driving and 3500 caught speeding.
“I just don’t know what we’ve got to do to get the message through… it’s just madness Deb.”
