Shadow Immigration Minister Jonno Duniam has questioned how a man who has been on the run for almost three days was still allowed to be in the country.

He’s admitted to Clinton Maynard; his government was in power for some of the time the man has been in the country, but says it shows there’s been a “long-term failure”.

“It is not just a Labor problem without question, but they’re in power now. We’ve indicated if they want to tighten things up and change the system, we stand ready to work with them,” he said.
