How’s this for an amazing story…

On Anzac Day, Jim Wilson received an email from a 2GB Drive listener named Carol. She described to Jim when cleaning her Great Uncles medal collection she came across another WWII medal belonging to someone else.

Carol wanted to reunite the medal with its owner’s family.

The medal belongs to Bernard O’Reilly who was enlisted in the Second Australian Imperial Force in June of 1940.

Drive listener Carol was told on-air who the medal belonged to.

Daren O’Reilly told Jim Wilson the medal being reunited with his family is “fantastic”.

Grandson to the WWII Veteran, Daren said he doesn’t have many memories of Bernard.

“I have no memorabilia or anything of my grandfather.”
