Concerns have been raised about the safety of allowing guests to disembark the covid-hit Coral Princess cruise ship.

The ship is on its way to Sydney from Eden on the NSW far south coast.

Currently, covid-positive guests and crew will not be allowed to disembark.

Member for Eden-Monaro Kristy McBain joined Joe Hildebrand on Afternoons to talk about why she believes the community needs the ship and the associated tourism.

“It’ll be the first cruise ship that has docked in Eden for probably over two years now,” she said.

“When you’ve got towns that rely on tourism, it’s been an incredibly difficult couple of years.”

Ms McBain also talked about the change in government and about community collaboration with regards to living with covid.
