A local farmer has called out supermarkets for hiking the price of produce at the expense of shoppers.

Supermarket prices for produce have soared and the benefits are not flowing to the farmers.

Orange cherry farmer Guy Gaeta told Ben Fordham, there’s nothing worse than seeing supermarkets “jack up” prices for produce.

“It is rotten for the farmers but it’s even worse for the consumers, they are paying those huge prices and no one is doing anything about it, ” he said.

Guy told Ben, “If farmers were getting $10 for a lettuce, we’d be driving Ferraris”.
