‘Minnslide’: Labor wins State Election, Chris Minns 47th Premier, Perrottet stands down

Labor has ended a 12-year Liberal stronghold on NSW in the 2023 State Election and are heading towards claiming a majority government. Labor leader Chris Minns will be the 47th Premier of NSW.

The Premier-elect addressed the Labor party faithful saying “after 12 years in opposition, the people of NSW have voted for a fresh start.”

Outgoing Premier Dominic Perrottet conceded defeat, urging NSW to get behind Chris Minns saying “I have no doubt that he will make a fine 47th Premier of NSW.”

Mr Perrottet will step down as the parliamentary leader of the Liberal party.

The 2GB live election coverage was spearheaded by host John Stanley and his expert panel featuring commentator Joe Hildebrand and former MP Fiona Scott.
