‘Lismore’s decimated’: A family’s heartbreak after father spent hours in flooded home

Ben Fordham

A heartbroken daughter has spoken out after her father spent hours trapped inside a flooded house.

Listener Nicky told Ben Fordham her 75-year-old father was stuck in water up to his collarbone on a second storey floor with his carer.

Jeff spent five hours pinned to the ceiling because that was the only breathing space they had.

Jeff’s dog tragically drowned.

Until today, carer Louise had been missing.

“We located Louise about 2 o’clock yesterday,” Nicky told Ben.

“Lismore’s decimated, it’s like Hiroshima.”
