Lidia Thorpe resigns as deputy Greens leader

Clinton Maynard

Lidia Thorpe has resigned as deputy leader of the Greens in the Senate.

Senator Thorpe dated Dean Martin, the former president of an outlaw motorcycle gang, while sitting on a parliamentary law enforcement committee.

Party leader Adam Bandt is describing it as a “significant error of judgment”.

2GB Federal Politics Editor Michael Pachi told Jim Wilson the revelation will damage the Greens.

“It’s a difficult position for the Greens, as Lidia Thorpe is popular with party voters.”
