The coronation is just around the corner, and the Australian Republican Movement is pushing hard for King Charles to pay reparations to the former colonies.

The statement from the Republicans demands reparations, the return of Indigenous artifacts, and an apology to the Indigenous peoples of Australia. Senator Lidia Thorpe headlines the political calls for the apology.

Luke Grant was perplexed by the demands, agreeing with prominent monarchists it was unlikely to win the Republican movement much support.

“I’m astonished to understand why the Australian Republican Movement would want to cozy up to Senator Thorpe”.
