Liberal MPs denied entry to China
Andrew Hastie, Liberal member for Canning WA, joins Michael to talk about he and his government colleague, Senator James Paterson, being denied visas to visit China.
The MPs were due to travel to China next month on a study tour planned by think tank China Matters, but on Friday the Chinese Embassy told China Matters their visas had been denied, “at this time”.
Both Mr Hastie & Senator Paterson have been increasingly critical about the Chinese government, speaking out about attempts to exert influence in Australia and human rights abuses against Uighurs in Xinjiang province.
